Job Title: Chief Operations Officer

Location: Nairobi

Job Description

Responsible for the implementation of HRM strategies and effective delivery of HR services. S/he assesses the organizational needs, interprets and applies the company HR strategies, policies & regulations, establishes internal procedures and provides solutions to wide spectrum of complex HRM issues. S/he promotes a collaborative client oriented approach and contributes to maintenance of high staff morale.

Responsibilities

  • Implement HR policies and procedures, continuously analyze HR strategies and policies and procedures, assessing the impact of change and make recommendation on their implementation;
  • Oversee research, draft and update all employee policy manuals and documents whilst ensuring company adherence to various labor related statutes;
  • Provide oversight and quality control over recruitment and selection policies and procedures, including screening, interviewing, reference checks and job offers;
  • Manage and implement the company separation policies and procedures;
  • Oversee the staff reward management system, which will include conducting periodic jobs evaluation and remuneration surveys to benchmark competitive compensation packages;
  • Provide guidance on the appropriate salary structure and salary scales and manage the staff pension scheme;
  • Establish compliance mechanisms of HR policies with regard to issuance of job descriptions, annual declarations of conflict of interest, updating of staff beneficiary forms among others;
  • Oversee staff performance management, including annual 3600 and probationary evaluation processes. Provide annual staff training on the performance evaluation procedures to ensure supervisors are providing constructive and useful feedback. Attend all annual performance evaluations and ensure finalization of all evaluations;
  • Monitor and serve as the key internal point person for employee labor relations and mediation in the event of inter-office disputes. Ensure the adherence to company grievance and disciplinary procedures. Manage all employee litigation matters;
  • Maintain and regularly update employee records e.g. bio data, leave, medical, training, performance management, and ensure integrity of data and information related to management and development of human resource programs and activities;
  • Regularly conduct job analysis and update job descriptions to be used as the basis for HR best practices;
  • Implement training needs analysis, training programs, staff induction and on the job orientations as well as conducting baseline employee surveys;
  • Manage, counsel, coach and mentor staff at different levels on needs basis;

Manage the organization staff medical scheme, which will include the procurement or renewal of the services and the daily running of the scheme;

Qualifications

  • Member of Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) or its equivalent.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant experience gained from a reputable organization;
  • Master’s Degreein Human Resource Management/Behavioural Sciences/Social Sciences/Business Administration or any other business related field from a recognized University;
  • Bachelor’s degree inHuman Resource Management/Behavioural Sciences/Social Sciences/Business Administration or any other business related field from a recognized University;
