  • To give and maintain high quality and compassionate clinical and medical care to patient through application of specialist clinical skills and knowledge. It involves identifying and attending to patients needs in a timely and professional manner.


• Carry out clinical activities which include medical history taking, patient consultation, physical examination, diagnosing, treating and prescribing drugs to patients
• Work with the nurse and community health worker to ensure adherence to right medical procedures and protocols
• Examine and refer complicated cases for specialized medical management
• Perform medical and minor surgical procedures
• Order and interpreting medical test for proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment
• Follow up of patients after attending to them when necessary
• Co-ordinate patient care with other departments in the organization
• Replenish first Aid boxes
• Provide counseling to patients when necessary
• Observe good clinical practices while carrying out assigned duties
• Administer first Aid emergencies
• Provide health talks and participating in health promotion and education
• Maintain strict confidentiality of the patient information
• Prepare reports to the management for the various activities and operations carried out
• Managing clinical risks emanating from the job
• Undertake any other work-related duties assigned from time to time


• A Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Clinical Medicine and Community Health from a recognized institution and
• Certificate of Registration by Clinical Officers’ Council
• At least 3-year post qualification experience


  • Knowledge of policies, regulations and procedures to administer clinical care to patients
  • Knowledge of standard clinical care procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of basic emergency care
  • Excellent listening and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to performs in a tactful and professional manner
  • Excellent clinical analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and to react calmly in emergency situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team based environment
  • Extended medical knowledge
