Job description

Nairobi Waldorf School Trust (NWST) in Nairobi, Kenya seeks to hire a Pedagogical Administrator who will be responsible for overseeing all the Pedagogical Administrative issues, quality of education and standards at the school from Kindergarten to High School levels.

This role oversees all the Pedagogical Administrative issues and the position holder must be well connected to the Waldorf movement. The individual should be a team player willing to collaborate with varied stakeholders. They should be keen on improving processes, tools, systems in collaboration with all parties, parents, colleagues, and learners.  

The position holder will oversee the quality of education at the Nairobi Waldorf School Trust and ensure that improvements are made consistently to meet desired standards, by building a Pedagogical Team that works in cohesion with both management and administration. Teaching experience in International Baccalaureate (IB) at both primary and high school levels is a requirement.


  • Lead and direct the development of all learning tools and strategy.
  • Give direction in the development of assessment tools for both learners and teachers to ensure it is aligned to the Waldorf Education Policy and principles.
  • Oversee the curriculum development for the whole school and ensure its effective implementation and regular evaluation to meet it’s growth opportunity and maintain our high quality standards.
  • Oversee and direct monitoring and evaluation of all systems, processes and tools designed by the Pedagogical Team to ensure there is an actual measure in the growth in education and that high quality Waldorf pedagogical standards/systems are maintained, and changes made at the appropriate time for improvement. e.g. evaluation tools, report writing process, mentorship etc.
  • Vet external mentors prior to their being engaged, oversee mentoring and development of teachers, recruitment and management of all the schools documentation.
  • Mentor Pedagogical leaders and teachers to ensure the school has a well developed team.
  • Oversee and guide engagement with stakeholders at all levels and proactively act as liaison between the School, Parent body and Government Educational institutions at both local and international levels and ensure that effective Private / Public sector Partnerships (PPP) in education are created e.g. non-governmental organizations, donors, academic institutions, and embassies including influencers.  Ensure that these are well managed, maintained and informed of the Waldorf curriculum and the school’s strategic goals using tact, and diplomacy.  
  • Maintain a close business  relationship with the Ministry of education and ensure the Waldorf curriculum is registered in the country and well recognized in the region.
  • Develop measures and contingency / management plans for any foreseeable risk in the school curriculum.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s educational policies.


  • Masters degree in Education, Education Administration and Leadership, Curriculum Planning, Development and Implementation, or any other relevant field;
  • Must possess a Bachelors degree in Education or other relevant field;
  • At least 8 years of International Baccalaureate teaching experience at both primary and high school levels
  • A Diploma in Waldorf / Steiner Education is an added advantage
  • Computer Literate in areas such as online research, spreadsheets and word processing;
  • Work experience in a multicultural setting and skilled in change management;
  • Registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
  • Excellent in both verbal and writing skills with demonstrated experience of both.
  • An assertive and ethical team player with practical  knowledge of pedagogical systems and processes and the ability to work under pressure and meet set deadlines
