Job And Appointment Specifications for Nursing Officers

Scope of work

The Nursing Officers will be responsible for responding to medical emergencies and undertaking referrals when recommended at NPHRL

The Ministry of Health is seeking to recruit 3 Nursing officers to be deployed in any laboratory located within the National public Health Reference Laboratories.

The officers will report directly to the managers in respective laboratories.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to medical emergencies within the Laboratories
  • Offer first aid
  • Carry out travel
  • Facilitate patient referral to
  • Facilitate medical
  • Take stock of medical emergency
  • Carry out health
  • Facilitate patient referral to other hospitals for further diagnosis
  • Ensure that medical equipment is well calibrated and functional and undertake secondary screening in the absence of a clinician

Qualifications

The Nursing officer must meet the following requirements

  • Have a diploma in nursing or Bachelor degree in nursing
  • Must be registered by the Nursing Council
  • Holder of a valid practicing License from Nursing Council
  • At least 2 years working experience in Nursing
  • Knowledge of Infection, Prevention and Control in health facilities
  • Experience working with Ministry of Health systems on COVID 19 is an added advantage
  • Good report writing and analytical skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision

Terms of service

Remuneration Package: Consolidated package for this position is- Ksh. 75,000/PM

Six (6) months’ contract with possible extension based on performance and duration of COVID-19 pandemic
