Position:              County Executive Officer

Our client, a membership-based trade support institution is seeking to recruit a County Executive Officer to join their team.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The County Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible and accountable to provide leadership to secretariat, implement the strategic plan, expand financial resources and ensure financial accountability develop membership services & ensure delivery, grow membership, as advocacy lead articulate Policy positions & represent members, build internal and external relationships, and communicate members priorities to County government, media and other key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Ensures the organization stays true to its vision, mission and objectives, oversights the development of periodic a strategic plan and drives its implementation. Formulates policies and planning recommendations to the Board and ensuring alignment with short-term and long-term objectives. Operate as a positive model for the culture of the organization, principled and acts with integrity
  • Management: principally responsible for the day-to-day management of the association secretariat, lead and motivate team to achieve objectives
  • Program and Service Delivery: Oversees the development, design, marketing, promotion, delivery of quality programs and services to members & non-members
  • Membership Recruitment: Proactively drive membership recruitment efforts, including recruiting new businesses and on-going maintenance of current members for membership renewal through constant engagement.
  • Advocacy: Oversees the development of advocacy plans, well researched and articulated policy positions, act as chief external advocate for the association and members ensuring key messages for the goals of the organisation are heard. Lead in key advocacy engagements with critical stakeholders.
  • Finance Management: Recommends yearly budget for Board approval and prudently manages organization’s resources on a day-to-day basis within those budget guidelines according to finance policies. Ensure & oversight financial transparency, accountability, integrity & compliance with all statutory requirements. Oversight /Cause the production of annual budget, Monthly & quarterly management reports, and annual audited accounts
  • Fundraising: Oversees fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies to approach funders, writing proposals and administrating fundraising records and documentation. Ensure fundraising goals are achieved
  • Human resource management: Effectively manages the human resources of the organization according to authorized personnel policies and procedures towards encouraging synergies and propagating team effort
  • Board administration & support: Supports operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and staff. Works with the Board chair to enable the Board to fulfil the governance functions and facilitates the optimum performance by the Board
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Overseeing the organisatio’s legal, regulatory and statutory functions while ensuring compliance with relevant laws, policies and regulations. Identify and evaluate the risks to clients (members, board, staff, and service providers), property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks.
  • Communication: Ensure there is clear communication strategy which maximizes opportunities for advocacy, fundraising & builds brand reputation, a strong positive brand reputation, ensure profile is enhanced thorough media appearances and top-level engagements

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, Economics or Public policy. A post graduate diploma in Marketing Public Relations, Marketing or Association Management will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years cumulative working experience in a well-established business members association/s, at a minimum currently at a second level management position leading in membership development, fundraising, communication and advocacy. OR in well establish business leading Sales & Marketing function responsible for product development, marketing & sales.
  • Demonstrable experience in revenue generating membership services development, fundraising and advocacy
  • Demonstrable ability to engage media, and make presentations
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Experience advocating to government & working with media
  • Proven ability of achieving organizational goals
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business ecosystem, community, economic development and political dynamics
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven media experience is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to build &maintain positive relationship with internal & external stake holders
  • Ability to work under pressure/ resilience or under strict deadlines
  • Committed to continuing staff & team development
  • Good advocacy skills
