 Overview of the Position

Our client in the hospitality industry is looking to fill in the above position, to be based in Nairobi.  They must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important.


  • Opening the kitchen and informing the team of the daily special for breakfast and updating the board and missing items.
  • High quality food production in set standards while following the recipe and training the team.
  • Supervise the preparation of all food
    • Ensure that food products, presentation, and plating are of the highest quality, and are prepared to serve in a timely manner.
    • Ensure efficient, cost-effective operation and profitability of food production.
  • Manage kitchen stocks
  • Menu review and updates
  • Update the Accountant on any needed maintenance in the kitchen
  • Oversee and supervise all kitchen staff
  • Ensure compliance with the health and safety standards in the kitchen department
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.


  • Proven experience as Head Cook
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Very good communication skills
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina
  • Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
  • Working experience of more than 3 years in a similar industry
  • Must be 28 years and above.
