Job Brief

We are seeking to hire a Baker to prepare different types of bread, and a wide range of pastries, like cookies, cakes and pies.

The baker is responsible for preparing all products, ensuring quality and uniformity as per the required orders/production plan.

Responsibilities

  • Organize the work station.
  • Ensure that all raw materials required for products preparations are available and identify missing items. Report to the Bakery Manager of any missing items.
  • Ensure that all stock materials and pastries are not expired, and FIFO is being done.
  • Check the mixers, oven and all bakery tools ensuring that they are in the station and properly working, clean and ready for use. If not, alert the Bakery Production Manager.
  • Always report any unmatched items between production and distribution list, incidents or happenings to the Bakery Production Manager immediately.
  • Count and verify products (breads/pastries/cakes) stock quantities at hand, and log it in the daily production forms.
  • Ensure that all raw materials and products used in the production process are labelled correctly with the name, production date and expiry date.
  • Ensure that the correct recipe is followed for all products, with consistency and standards maintained at all times.
  • Ensure that all raw materials are up to standard in aspects such as the texture, colour and expiry date etc. Any change in raw materials must be reported to the Bakery Manager

  • Ensure that all raw materials and leftovers are well stored and labelled.

Qualifications

  • Certification from a culinary school a must
  • Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
  • Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, and blenders
  • Understanding of food safety practices
  • Experience with cake decoration techniques
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
  • Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
