AMPATH Study Nurses Job

Study Nurse Job, Current Nursing Jobs Kenya,

The Academic Model Providing Access To Health Care (AMPATH) is a project under the auspices of Moi University School of Medicine, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and Consortium of North American Universities whose aim is to provide sustainable efforts in access to health care and to conduct Reseach and Training. AMPATH also supports the Ministry of Health in ten (10) Counties of Western Kenya,Nyanza and NorthRift Region.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the following vacant position under MUCRC-SANOFI Study  to be based at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) – AMPATH

POSITION:                Study Nurse (2 POSITIONS )

GRADE:                    RS 8

SITE:                          AMPATH, MTRH

Reporting to the Research Medical Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of ethical and effective clinical care within the studies. He/she ensures the smooth running of the clinic.


  • Ensuring recruitment, screening and enrolment of study participants and maintaining confidentiality all the time.
  • Obtaining informed consent from potential study participants.
  • Scheduling return appointments and track follow-ups.
  • Making home visits to locate patients when necessary
  • Providing education about specific disease condition, medicines and adherence to patients and their families.
  • Assessing psychosocial needs of patients.
  • Maintaining proper documentation of all study procedures.
  • Maintaining professional conduct, towards promoting a high standard of clinical care in the project.
  • Working with the data managers and the clinicians to check data quality and ensure continued quality of research records and source documents.
  • Liaising with the laboratory to ensure required lab tests are analyzed and lab results are available in a timely manner.
  • Keeping an inventory of study supplies and ensuring their proper use.
  • Maintaining study records and assisting in preparation of study reports.
  • Any other duties as assigned.


  •  Must have a Diploma in Community Health Nursing (KRCHN). 
  •  Must be registered by Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Must a valid practicing License.
  • Be willing to work in the field on a regular basis.
  • Experience in data collection is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software package is a must
  • Be culture sensitive and able to relate well with various communities.
  • Prior clinical research experience will be an added advantage.
