Our client, in the hospitality industry and located in Nairobi is seeking to recruit qualified persons to fill the following positions:-
Position Title: Operations Manager (2 positions)
Reporting to: Managing Director/Hotel Manager
Remuneration: Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
Job description
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the day to day operations.
Responsibilities
- Reporting directly to the Managing Director you will oversee the Health Club, Maintenance and Housekeeping Departments. You will liaise closely with the Finance and Sales/Marketing &Banqueting Managers
- Coordinate the workings of Food and Beverage, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Stores and Health Club departments.
- Oversee the financial reporting which includes the daily revenue collection/Expenditure and turnover report and the monthly summaries and present to the directors monthly financial reports by the 7th day of each month
- Ensure the hotels operations run smoothly by liaising with the maintenance departments to ensure timely repairs and reporting of malfunctioning of equipment and room fixtures.
- Track the in and out movement of the hotel vehicles and ensure their maintenance schedules are followed
- Take the lead in hiring of new staff and you will chair all recruitment interviews panels, conduct performance appraisals and take disciplinary action in consultation with the Managing Director.
- Monitor and propose improvements in the mentioned departments.
- In consultation with the MD you will formulate and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output and monitor adherence to rules and regulations.
- You will oversee the weekly and monthly stock taking exercise and ensure breakages and loses are well documented.
- Work very closely with the banqueting manager in conducting routine spot checks on food and beverage reports of excesses/ shortages and sharing the reports with the Managing Director
- Market the hotel and its related activities aggressively to increase our sales revenues
- Flexible and willing to help other departments at busy times if required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Hotel Management or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Conversant with hotel operating systems
- Minimum 3 years of working experience (with at least 1 year at management level)
- Proven track record in management
- Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service skills
- Must be self- motivated and a result oriented individual
- Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
- Highly organized individual with ability to transition quickly from one task to another
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to instill confidence in clients
